The Bengal Files Review: रोंगटे खड़े कर देगी पल्लवी जोशी और विवेक अग्निहोत्री की ‘द बंगाल फाइल्स’

Film director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has brought such a film this time, seeing that you will stand up. Yes, we are talking about ‘The Bengal files’, which has been released in theaters today. The film is even more bold than Vivek’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’. Through this film, he has presented an unheard story of West Bengal to everyone, due to which most people are unaware. The story of the film is before India’s independence and India-Pakistan partition. Just a day before independence, Pakistan separated from India and became a new country, but the fire of this partition had already smoldered and during this time there was a massacre in West Bengal, in which many people lost their lives. This film is about the same.

The story of Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s ‘The Bengal Files’ is based on the true incidents of Direct Action Day of 16 August 1946. The story is taken especially in the past and today. The film presents the story of Direct Action Day with different methods and characters. In this film, you are almost Starcasts who also worked in ‘The Kashmir Files’. In the film, Darshan Kumar plays Shiva Pandit, who is a police officer and Kashmiri Pandit. He is deployed in Bengal to search for a kidnapped girl.

Simrat Kaur has played the role of farmers, ie Bharti Banerjee, who is a Bengali girl. At the same time, Eclavya Sood has played the role of Amarjeet Arora, which is his love. On the other hand, in the film, Anupam Kher has made his mark in the form of Mahatma Gandhi and Rajesh Khera has made his mark with a brilliant performance as Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Talking about other actors in the film, it includes Mohan Kapoor, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Shashwat Chatterjee, Sourav Das and Puneet Issar, who have brought their lives in their characters. At the same time, Namashi Chakraborty has played the role of Ghulam Sarwar Hussaini, who is the leader of Noakhali. He provokes people and makes people commit to mass murders. In the film, Pallavi Joshi plays the old characters of Bharti Banerjee, who is mentally weak. Talking about Mithun Chakraborty, he has played the role of ‘The Madman’, a mad former policeman, whose condition is in bad shape. However, he has also given tremendous performance in his frightening form.

This is the third part of Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s files Trillji, in which The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir files were first. This film also brings out an untold and hidden chapter in the history of India, and gives rise to an important conversation. From showing political circumstances to lighting the ground reality, Vivek Agnihotri has once again brought his fearless sense of cinema through this film.

The film shows the massacre of Bengalis and Sikhs by outsiders in Noakhali. Some scenes of the film are the most heartbreaking and painful, in which the dead bodies lying on the roads, the bloodshed and the lifeless people hanging from the pillars are seen everywhere. Large -scale murders and atrocities on Bengalis and others are shown in such a way that it not only describes the pain, but also makes the audience feel deeply.

‘The Bengal Files’ is a lot of violence and a truth shown without fear. This film is a true attempt to tell today about the forgotten incidents of ‘Direct Action Day’ to today’s generation. This film stands up on its line, “If Kashmir gives you pain, Bengal will scare you.” However, every good film has some shortcomings and there are some shortcomings in this film too. First, the film is quite long, 3 hours 20 minutes, in which the first part moves at a good speed, but the second part slows down, which makes a little boredom feel. In many places, some scenes have been drawn too long, if its duration was 3 hours, the second part would have been good.

On the other hand, the story is shown in two parts, one before the partition of Pakistan and after a partition. In such a situation, suddenly changing the scenes confuses a little. Overall, the film is good and you can plan to see it this weekend. My side from my side 3.5 out of 5 stars.
