Filmfare 2025: Filmfare Awards were held at EKA Arena Ahmedabad where Bollywood stars were seen. All the stars came down to earth together. Award named after film critic
Filmfare Awards was started in the year 1954. Its original name was The Clares, which was named after Times of India critic Clare Mendonca. In those days, readers of Filmfare magazine used to vote for their best actors, actresses and films and winners were decided on the basis of readers’ votes. Magazine readers used to select the winners on the basis of their votes.
The first award ceremony took place on 21 March 1954.
The first ceremony of this award function was held on 21 March 1954 at Metro Theatre, Mumbai. At that time, in this award function, awards were given mainly in 5 categories which were – Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Film, Best Director, Best Music Director. However, with the passing of years and changing times and changing cinema, many changes were made in this award ceremony and many categories were added. Now many awards have been included including Best Actor (Critics Choice), Best Actor in Supporting Role (Male and Female), Best Music Album, Best Lyrics, Best Playback Singer (Male and Female), Best Playback Singer (Female and Male), Best Debut Director, Lifetime Debut Award.
Meena Kumari had won the Best Actress Award
The film ‘2 Bigha’ based on the story of Rabindranath Tagore received the first The Clares Award. It was directed by Bimal Roy. This first award in the Best Actor category was given to Dilip Kumar for his brilliant performance in the film Daag. Talking about the Best Actress category, neither Madhubala, Nargis, nor Nirupaya Roy got the award for Best Actress. Meena Kumari. Meena Kumari was given the award for her incomparable performance in the film Baiju Bawra. Naushad Ali received the award for Best Music Director for music in Baiju Bawra.
