After marriage, the couple had three children named- Sanjay Dutt, Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt. But very soon the disease grabbed Nargis and then she lost the battle of life at the age of 51. Recently, Priya Dutt said that after the death of mother Nargis, her father was badly broken and used to sit near the grave of Nargis overnight. Even Sunil Dutt started drinking alcohol to forget the grief of losing Nargis.

Priya Dutt spoke about her life in an interview about the difficult time when her mother Nargis had cancer. His mother’s death broke father Sunil Dutt completely. Priya told that Sunil had stopped taking care of herself and resorted to alcohol to deal with this grief. But one day he realized that his children needed him and he decided to bring his life back on track.

Sunil Dutt was broken after Nargis’s death
In an interview to Vicky Lalwani, Sunil Dutt told that Nargis suffered a lot during his treatment in America, but when he felt that the last time had come close, he stubbornly returned to India. Priya Dutt said, ‘Our life was very upheaval. My father was completely broken. We were afraid of them. What are he going to do? He used to wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning, used to go to the cemetery (near the grave of Nargis) and just used to sit there alone. He could not sleep at night, could not work, could not do anything.

How did Sunil Dutt a change?
Priya Dutt told that one night she saw a star towards the sky. He told his father that the mother is keeping an eye on them and is protecting them from loss. Hearing this, everything changed inside Sunil and he became a separate person overnight. He told, ‘He came back in reality and completely changed. He threw all his cigarettes, threw out every liquor bottle in the house. He started drinking. But he removed everything overnight. Then he started focusing on the children.

During the interview, Priya told that her father Sunil Dutt respected and buried her mother Nargis’s wish, while many people were asking her to perform the last rites.
