In fact, Urvashi Rautela, in a podcast with YouTuber-Bodicaster Siddhartha Kannan, claimed that “If you go to visit Badrinath temple, there is a temple on his side, Urvashi”. When the presenter asked that the temple is in your name, is dedicated for you? So in response Urvashi said “Yes there is Urvashi temple”.

Let’s know about Maa Urvashi temple
Maa Urvashi Temple is located in Bamani village of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Bamani village is about one kilometer from Badrinath Dham. Most of the passengers coming to Badrinath Dham also visit this temple. According to mythological beliefs, two stories related to the temple are prevalent. According to a belief, Lord Shiva visited Prithviloka to liberate Mother Sati and made several pieces of Sati from Sudarshan Chakra. A piece also fell in Bamani village, where the Urvashi temple was built.

According to another belief, when Lord Vishnu was doing penance in Badrinath, a very beautiful Apsara was born from the thigh, whose name was Urvashi. Urvashi is considered one of the most beautiful nymphs of heaven. According to local beliefs, Urvashi spent some time in the area near Bamani village, so she is worshiped there as mother Urvashi Devi.

The pilgrimage-priests associated with Badrinath have been provoked over Urvashi’s claim. Bhuvan Nautiyal, the former Dharmadhikari of Badrinath Dham, told News 18 that local devotees keep visiting the mother Urvashi temple. Religious events are held in the temple especially on the occasion of Navratri. Mother Urvashi temple is seen connecting with Lord Shiva. The former Dharmadhikari said that it is not right to connect the temple of Goddess with her name.

At the same time, on the claim of Urvashi Rautela about the temple, the President of Brahmakpal Tirtha Purohit Samaj, Amit Sati said that the statement of actor Urvashi has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. Amit Sati told News18 that “Urvashi apologizes to her statement, otherwise she should be prepared for the result”.

Significantly, Urvashi Rautela originally comes from Kotdwar city of Pauri Garhwal district. Urvashi’s father has a shop in Kotdwar. Urvashi has been associated with the mountain due to Uttarakhand connection.
