It took not 2-4 years but 24 years to make this film and when it finally came to theaters, it was called a flop. But the real sensation occurred when people started calling it a wretched film. The reason was the sad events related to it. During and after the shooting, two big superstars associated with this film lost their lives, causing a strange fear in the audience and the film industry. Not only this, the director also died. This film was ‘Love and God’. Released in 1986, the film was in the lead role in the film Nimmi and Sanjeev Kumar. The film has been given by one such obsessive director in the history of direct Hindi cinema. Asif did it. These were the directors who managed to establish their debut with the first two films in their career. The film was such that not only the career of the actors of the film but also changed the history of Bollywood. These films were ‘Phool’ in the year 1944 and then in the year 1960 ‘Mughal-e-Azam.’ But the process of making ‘Love and God’ was so sad that people do not forget it.
Actually, K. Asif dreamed of making ‘Love and God’ a historical film like ‘Mughal-e-Azam’. Shooting started in the year 1962, but what happened after that shocked everyone. This was the period when Guru Dutt was struggling with many problems in his personal life. His film ‘Paper Ke Phool’ failed at the box office, due to which he was in financial crisis. He had to mortgage to the house. After the death of Guru Dutt, K. Asif chose Sanjeev Kumar for the role of Majnu. After some time the shooting started again, but the fate of the film was something else. In 1971, Sanjeev Kumar left Mumbai for some time and became busy in another project. When he returned, K. Asif went to meet him. During the conversation, Asif suddenly had trouble breathing and Sanjeev died in his arms. This incident was a big shock for Sanjeev and the film once again hanged in the balance. Of. After Asif’s death, Sanjeev Kumar took the responsibility of fulfilling the film. He sought help from many producers and even Dilip Kumar, but no one came forward. Eventually, producer KC Bokadia decided to fund the film. The shooting started again, but then Sanjeev Kumar died of a heart attack. These accidents gave the film the tag of ‘Manhus’ and ‘Cursed’. After a long wait of 24 years, ‘Love and God’ was released in 1986. Casey Bokadia completed the shooting of the remaining part of the film with the help of body double. The film was released but could not attract the audience at all and proved to be a great film of Bollywood.
