New Delhi: Controversy is increasing due to Kamal Haasan’s statement on the origin of Kannada language. The Karnataka film Chamber of Commerce has given strict warning that if the actor does not apologize, his next film ‘Thug Life’ will not be released in the state. Meanwhile, a petition has been filed in the Karnataka High Court, so that the film can be screened without any interruption.

President of Karnataka Film of Commerce, M Narasimhalu said that this dispute has now moved beyond cinema. If he does not apologize, the ‘thug life’ will not work in Karnataka. that is for sure. It is not about the industry, it is about the state. Even political parties are opposing, the procannada organizations are saying that they have to answer. The release of the film without apology is difficult. Our distributors are not ready to show it on the screen. How can the film be released here?

Chief Minister also expressed protest
The controversy began during the promotional event of ‘Thug Life’, in which Trisha Krishnan and Silambasan TR were also present along with Kamal Haasan. Talking about the culture and linguistic relations of South India, Kamal Haasan said that Kannada has originated from Tamil. Political parties strongly criticized this statement. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reacted strongly and said that Kannada has its own history and Kamal Haasan does not know about it.

BJP state president BY Vijayendra also demanded an apology from the actor. He said, ‘Everyone should love their mother tongue, but showing ego in its name is a sign of insolvency. Especially it is necessary for artists to respect every language. Vijayendra also told that Kamal Haasan has worked in films in many languages, including Kannada, but his statement reflects ego. Many Kannada groups and language workers have also joined this demand. They are appealing to the actor to withdraw their statement and apologize to the public.
