A.K. Hangal made her Bollywood debut at a long life. Nevertheless, he worked in more than 200 films. He played many important roles including ‘Sholay’, ‘Namak Haram’, ‘Khoon Bhari Mang’, ‘Loud’ Paheli ‘,’ Lagaan ‘and Dil Mange More.
His character of Rahim Chacha is the most memorable in ‘Sholay’. He shared screen in many films like ‘Namak Haram’, ‘Sholay’ and ‘Abhimaan’ with Amitabh Bachchan in the 1970s and 1980s. AK Hangal ruled the hearts of people with his performance.
Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, A.K. Hangal also did more work with Rajesh Khanna. He worked with Rajesh in many films like ‘Aap Ki Kasam’, ‘Amar Deep’, ‘Job’, ‘A little infidelity’ and ‘Phir Wahi Raat’.
A.K. Hangal was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to Indian cinema and theater in 2006, which is India’s third largest civilian honor. However, in later years, he struggled with financial crisis, lived in a small one -room flat in Mumbai.
A.K. Hangal’s son made an emotional appeal to help him through the media. He was living in poverty. They did not have money for food and drink and medicines. In the year 2012, A.K. Hangal died. He was 98 years old. He was struggling with age related disease.
