New Delhi. Filmmaker Anil Sharma’s son Utkarsh Sharma is known for blockbuster films like ‘Gadar’ and ‘Gadar 2’. He played the role of Sunny Deol’s son in his career first film ‘Gadar’. Utkarsh Sharma’s film ‘Vanwas’ was released in the year 2025. It was directed by his father Anil Sharma, but the magic of the film did not work at the box office. Nana Patekar was also seen in it. Recently, Utkarsh Sharma gave the reason for the film to be beaten at the box office.
In an interview given to the screen, Utkarsh Sharma spoke openly about the poor performance of ‘exile’. Utkarsh Sharma said, ‘What we understood is that our release date was a bit wrong. This got stuck between Pushpa 2 and Baby John. Both of them had hit the screen. His screen war impressed us a lot. However, in the first week we saw a little lead, but due to the very limited screen, our film could not do better collection. Sadly, there are not enough screens for 2-3 different films at a time in India. Hopefully this will not happen in future.
The film gets good response on OTT
Utkarsh Sharma says that he would like to watch the reactions of the audience in the theater. He told that his ‘exile’ on OTT got a new audience. He said, ‘The film performed very well on OTT. We got good reviews from people there. There is no screen fight on OTT. It is an advantage that people can at least see it. But I enjoy more in the theater. OTT proved to be good for exile, but you do not know who saw the film and who did not. This is as if I am working from home, there is no fun in it.
The film was not able to withdraw the cost at the box office.
Why was it filled for ‘exile’?
The actor told why he agreed to ‘exile’. Utkarsh Sharma said, ‘I said yes to this film, because I thought when will I get such an opportunity again? Doing a family film, that too for the theater? Now such films are not being made for cinema. I felt that this is an emotional and family movie, so I said yes to it.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Nana Patekar’s ‘Vanwas’ did a business of Rs 4.56 crore in India. The film’s earnings worldwide were only Rs 6.37 crore. These days ‘exile’ is present on platform G5.
