The film is named ‘Parineeta’ based on the famous Bengali novel by Sharatchandra Chattopadhyay. Released 20 years ago, this film is going to be released once again in theaters, due to which they are in the news. The film, directed by Pradeep Sarkar, was in the lead role in Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan and Shantanu Moitra’s music deepened the magic of the film.
Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra revealed in 2012 that her first choice for ‘Parineeta’ was Aishwarya Rai. He had said, I thought about ‘Parineeta’, so I immediately thought about a face like Aishwarya Rai. The character of the girl is such that two men fall in love with her … so the heroine should be bigger. However, director Pradeep Sarkar suggested the name of Vidya Balan, who was new in films at that time.
This journey was not easy for Vidya Balan. According to composer Shantanu Moitra, Vidya auditioned about 75 times for ‘Parineeta’ and was rejected every time. Many big actresses were also auditioning for this role. Because the story makers believed that the heroine in the film has to show love with two people, so the big actress will be able to do it easily.
Shantanu remembered that the director had demanded new looks for Vidya. At that time, many top actresses were also giving the same audition. Think about the pressure on that girl (learning). After being rejected 75 times, Vidya went to the concert of Brian Adams to please herself.
Shantanu said, ‘At that time, Pradeep said,’ Let’s do one last audition ‘and around 3:30 pm, she came quickly and gave the test, believing that it would not happen and after her Test, she left for the concert. Vidya finally got this role after several auditions.
The ‘Parineeta’, built in a budget of about 8 crore rupees, earned about 24 crore rupees in India and abroad, ie 3 times more than its cost. The film won 19 big awards, including Vidya Balan’s Filmfare Award for Best Debut and Technical Awards like Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design.
