He used to take care of every close in his movies. Recently, filmmaker brother Manish Goswami spoke openly about the late brother Manoj Kumar. Also told that during the shooting of the film ‘Kranti’, there were 66 retakes regarding a shot.
In an interview to Vicky Lalwani, Manish Goswami told that his brother Manoj Kumar was a perfectionist. He told, ‘He never compromised for anything. If 30, 40 or 50 retakes were needed for a scene, then he used to do it. After this, Manish Goswami told the story during the shooting of the film ‘Kranti’.
Shooting was done till 2 o’clock in the night
He said, ‘This happened during the shooting of the revolution. We were shooting at Jodhpur Palace. There was a scene in which Parveen Babi had to raise his hand on the wall and called Kranti Zindabad. But she was unable to do as Manoj Kumar wanted. We did 66 retakes and the shot was done at 2 pm. He also told that despite being retaked so many times, Manoj Kumar never lost his temper. He was always calm, but he had amazing convision. He never got angry. ,

Describing the atmosphere of the set of Manoj Kumar’s film, Manish said that if his brother had tied a handkerchief on his forehead, it would mean that he was under great pressure. He said, ‘When there was a handkerchief on his forehead, it meant that no member of the unit should ask him when the packup would happen. In most days, everything used to go according to the plan, but the days when this did not happen, he used to keep ending shooting. He also told that brother Manoj Kumar was very punctual of time, but he had his own way to handle these things.
Manoj Kumar was punished for time
He said, ‘If you are coming on time on the shift of 9 o’clock in the morning, then he will not say anything to you. But if you come at 12 o’clock in the afternoon for the shift of 9 o’clock, then they will let you go when they feel right. Manish said that all people knew the way Manoj Kumar’s work.
