‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ was Boney Kapoor’s dream project, because he wanted to spread the magic of ‘Mr. India’ through this film. Like ‘Mr. India’, he cast the pair of Sridevi and Anil Kapoor. It was going to be directed by Shekhar Kapoor, but in the middle he left the film, after which Satish Kaushik took this responsibility.

The film was made at a huge cost
Anil Kapoor and Sridevi’s ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ was the most expensive film of that time, whose budget was 10 crores. However, the film proved to be a disaster and Boney Kapoor’s head got a big debt. A few years ago, Satish Kaushik told that what was his condition after the film’s beating.

Director wanted to commit suicide
In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Satish Kaushal had told that a new marriage took place at that time and his first directorial film flopped at the box office, due to which he started thinking of committing suicide. He said, ‘I had a new marriage. Even my wife was upset. If I had jumped from the window, nothing would happen, because I was on the first floor. The dinner table was installed on the ground floor. If I jumped, I would fall on the lady’s vegetable and people would make fun of him too.

Apart from this, in a conversation with Komal Nahata, Satish Kaushik had told that he cried in front of Boney Kapoor. He said that, ‘Flop is a small word. It was a disaster. I was badly broken. There was a tremendous hyp about the film, but it flopped. The film ran only in the premiere, as long as the film’s 9th premiere was, only Main, Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor were left.
