The actor, who made his debut with Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’, shared his experiences and struggles including battling depression. Talking about his journey, Kumar said, ‘This industry is not for weak hearts. It is full of crazy people. Today, all the successful actors you see, such as Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who were my seniors in the National School of Drama, have gone through their conflicts. A lot of dedication is required to stay here.

Durgesh talks about the embarrassment of going to random audition
Despite being a film background, he also talked about the embarrassment of going to the random audition. He admitted, “When the casting directors recognize you from the previous work, it is derogatory to go for the audition.” Kumar thanked his role in ‘Panchayat’, especially for the character of Banarakus, which has been highly appreciated by the audience.

The actor said, ‘In the first season of the panchayat, I had only one day role, who was only 2.5 hours of shooting. I am thankful to Chandan Kumar and Deepak Kumar Mishra for writing the role of Banarakus. I am not Irfan or Nawazuddin. I am an average actor with a strong tendency to survive. He further said, ‘I cannot live without acting. Whatever work I got, I did faith in my abilities. Now in an interview to Digital Commentary and Lallan Top, he has revealed that he was rejected from a film of Shahrukh. That too when he was auditioned 80 times and that film is ‘Raees’ released in the year 2017 which was directed by Rahul Dholakia.

Durgesh out of Shahrukh’s film without giving reason
Durgesh Kumar told, ‘I was cast in Shah Rukh Khan’s film Raees. Got on the set and Shahrukh Khan Sir said, ‘I Shahrukh Khan.’ I said- ‘I Durgesh Kumar.’ Scene, I was rehearsed 80 times. Did not work, I was told that you have to come, I will come later. After being rejected from the film, Durgesh wanted to leave Mumbai, because he felt very disappointed and desperate. Durgesh Kumar has also told that the role was later replaced by actor Anil Charanjeet who was replaced by actor and that role was the car mechanic. He also said that after five days, a man of NSD calls him that you are afraid of acting in front of Shahrukh Khan?
