He made many films a hit with his songs, although he struggled a lot before becoming famous. He was initially a journalist, but today there is talk of emotion and poetry in songs, then the name of Irshad Kamil is taken with great respect. The lyrics that came out of his pen seem not just songs, but the voice of the heart. Many songs like ‘If Tum Saath Ho’, ‘Nadan Parinde’, ‘Safar’, ‘Manwa Lage’, ‘Tum Hi Ho’ still touch the hearts of people. He wrote the songs of the film ‘Saira’ released some time ago.

Very few people would know that this journey started with love letters with love. Irshad Kamil was born on 5 September 1971 in Malerkotla city of Punjab. His childhood was spent in a locality where most people used to work daily wage. The facility of education was very limited and in such a situation it was nothing short of a challenge. His family wanted him to become a doctor and Irshad left no stone unturned to fulfill this desire. He did his MA in Hindi from Punjab University, then read journalism and finally he also obtained a PhD degree, but luck was written in luck.

Love Tellers used to write for friends

Irshad used to write love letters for his friends during college days. His love letter would be so effective that the readers were completely immersed in emotions. The hobby of writing love letters for friends began to improve his writing and he started participating in the literary events of the college. From here gradually his identity started to be made. Irshad started his career in journalism after completing his studies. He worked in many renowned newspapers, but later quit the job and turned to the city of dreams Mumbai. Here he had to face a lot of struggle. Initially, he used to go round from one studio to another. Once, a man called him to Delhi by luring them and then did not meet there. Irshad wandered in the streets of Delhi for three days and finally returned to Mumbai’s ticket.

When the mother lies on Eid
Irshad Kamil told in an interview that due to lack of money in his pocket, he refused to come home on Eid. They had to lie to the mother that there is a lot of work, they would not be able to come. At that time, his bank account was only Rs 430, while the ticket was Rs 470. He did not want to borrow from anyone at that time. During Struggle days, he met composer Sandesh Shandilya, through whom he got the first break in the film ‘Chameli’ in 2004. After this, Irshad never looked back. Wrote songs for many films like ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Tamasha’, ‘Highway’, ‘Ranjhana’, ‘Aashiqui 2’, ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’. His songs were well liked.

Many awards received for songs
Irshad Kamil received many big awards for his contribution. He was honored on all important forums like Filmfare, Mirchi Music Award, Screen, IIFA and Zee Cine. According to IANS report, he got the title of Best Lyrist for songs like ‘Nadan Parinde’, ‘Aaj Din Chadeya’ and ‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’. He has also received the ‘Kaifi Azmi Award’ in the field of Urdu literature. Apart from this, Irshad is also a writer. He also wrote popular books like ‘Bolti Walls’ and ‘Contemporary Hindi Poetry: Samay and Samaj’.
