Sandhya Shantaram was born in 1932 in Kochi. He has always been associated with theater. His father was also associated with the world of theater. This was the reason Sandhya and her sisters also joined the theater. Sandhya’s real name was Vijay Deshmukh. She wanted to act and she fulfilled her dream by V Shantaram. Those who thought that Sandhya’s voice meets his wife Jayashree. V Shantaram was the only one who made Vijay evening.
V Shantaram cast Sandhya in his Marathi film ‘Amar Bhupali’ in 1951. After the death of V Shantaram’s second wife Jayashree, in 1956, the filmmaker got married with Sandhya. After marriage, Sandhya gave the best performance in the 1959 film Navrang, which was highly praised. But after some time of marriage, V Shantaram’s eyes started to face problems. His eyes were getting weak.
Doctors immediately advised surgery and full time a nurse was also kept. In that difficult time, Sandhya took a lot of care of her husband. She decorated the room with flowers before her husband’s surgery. The room was chirping like a rainbow.
When V Shantaram opened his eyes after surgery, he first saw this beautiful view and from here he got the idea of making a Navrang film.
Sandhya Shantaram not only handled her husband after marriage but also the children. Actually V Shantaram and Sandhya had no children of their own. But Sandhya handled the children from two weddings that took place in the past.
Gave more love than his own children. Sandhya’s children themselves told about this many times that Sandhya considered her children. She used to cook for them and feed them with love. Sandhya stayed in Rajkamal Studio till her last days.
