But on career peak, he decided to go to Osho’s ashram by saying goodbye to films. This decision of Vinod Khanna was shocking not only for his family but also for the fans. He was not the one who introduced him to Osho but Mahesh Bhatt. Mahesh Bhatt revealed this in Arbaaz Khan’s show.

He further said, ‘I introduced Vinod Khanna to Osho Rajneesh. While I broke that relationship, they continued. I broke the garland and threw it to the commode. I felt that I am still feeling jealous but I am saying holy words… I felt like a hypocrite. I can’t lie to the world and myself.
Freedom between Mahesh-Osho
Mahesh Bhatt soon left Osho, but Vinod Khanna was still devoted to Osho. He left the films and moved to America with Rajneesh. Mahesh Bhatt and Osho later got into estrangement and they did not like each other as Osho personally took Mahesh Bhatt’s betrayal.

Osho also talked about his estrangement with Mahesh Bhatt. He had said, ‘Tell him just one thing that if he was not enough courageous to fulfill the commitment of retirement, then at least there should be such etiquette that the garland should be returned. I knew that it would be either his girlfriend would become a sanyasini or he would leave his retirement… and he lost. He has broken something very sacred. One day he will regret it.
