New Delhi. Bollywood actress and environmental activist Dia Mirza recently told about the deadly difficulties during her pregnancy. At the age of 39, he gave birth to his son Avyan Azad Rekhi, but this journey was not easy. Diya had a serious bacterial infection, due to which she had to deliver before time. Avyan also underwent life-savings surgery and Diya was not allowed to adopt her, because he was very delicate.

The life of me and my heart was in danger

Diya said in a conversation with the official Peepal of India, ‘I had a serious bacterial infection, which was probably due to the appendix surgery in the fifth month of pregnancy. By the end of the sixth month, my placenta started bleeding and my body was hit by sepsis (fatal infection). If the child is not removed immediately, neither I would have survived nor it. This was a very scary time.

I had an training of 810 grams at birth

When Diya was taken to the hospital, he told the doctor, ‘Just save my child…’ but her doctor assured him. Avyan was born, but he was only 810 grams and immediately went to ICU. At the same time, Diya was constantly being given IV antibiotics.

Actress could not take son in her lap after birth

Diya said, ’48 hours later it was found that the bacteria present in my body were fatal. He underwent life-savings surgery just 36 hours after Avyan was born. He had holes in the intestine, so stomas (a medical procedure) were imposed on him. I could see them only twice a week and I could not take them in the lap until they did not weight 2.5 kg.

Seeing the child, there was no nurse ready to touch

The actress further told that when he came home, no nurse was ready to touch her for 20 days because her condition was very critical. I dressed them myself. When he weighs 3.5 kg, he underwent another surgery, in which Stoma was cured.

Love, divorce and new beginnings

Diya married her business partner Sahil Sangha in 2014, but she divorced in 2019. In 2021, he married businessman Vaibhav Rekhi, who met during the Covid lockdown. Avyan was born in May 2021, who was able to come home only after staying in Nicu for two months.
