पाकिस्तानी कवि की कविता पढ़ने पर एक्टर की पत्नी के खिलाफ FIR दर्ज, लगाए गए कई आरोप

New Delhi: In the case of reciting Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s poem ‘Hum Dekhne’ during an event in Nagpur, the police have registered a case against three people, including Pushpa, wife of late actor-activist Veera Sathdar, to endanger India’s unity and integrity and promote enmity. The police said on Tuesday that they started recording the statements of the people associated with the controversial Veera Saathi Memorial program held in Nagpur on 13 May, where the poem of the poet of Pakistan was recited, while an official said that the investigation of the case is in a sensitive stage.

FIR against the actor has been recorded against the actor under Section 152 (endangering India’s sovereignty, unity and integrity), 196 (promoting enmity among various groups on the basis of religion), 353 (public mischief statements) and 3 (5), which belongs to the general intent. These strict allegations have been made against Pushpa, wife of late actor-activist Veera Saathidar and two unidentified persons. Let me tell you that Veera Sathidar, famous for the National Award winning film ‘Court’, died on 13 April 2021.

The complaint alleged that inflammatory reactions were given during the program, causing damage to communal harmony and national unity. According to the complaint, the speaker allegedly said, ‘It is a practice to shake the throne in our country as well. Today the era in which we are living, this period is of fascism. This round is of dictatorship. The complainant argued that these statements not only describe the Indian government as equal to fascist rule, but also advocate political upheaval under the guise of artistic and poetic expression.

Meanwhile, the police has intensified the investigation of the case and senior officials said that they are in the process of recording the statements of the people present in the program, including the organizers and the attendees. A police source said that so far the statements of five people have been recorded and indicated that soon more people will be called for questioning. An official said, ‘We are all investigating available footage, testimony of witnesses and documents. The process of recording the statement is important to determine the personal role and confirm the allegations.

Police said that they are also investigating the activities and background of Samata Kala Manch, whose head Sudhir Dhawale is currently on bail in another case related to the alleged inflammatory speeches given during the Elgar Parishad program in Pune in 2017. According to police sources, digital evidence submitted by the complainant, including video recording and news coverage links. The senior police officer said that the investigation is in a sensitive phase and the statements will help us understand the intentions and limits of violating the law. Meanwhile, CPI (M) Nagpur District Committee Secretary Arun Latkar told PTI that his party opposed the FIR being registered. Latkar said that if an FIR is lodged in a program if Faiz’s poem is read, then it is wrong.
