New Delhi. Srikanth, who won the Tamil Nadu government’s Best Actor Award for the film ‘Parthiban Kanavu’, has also received the Kala Mamani Award. It was expected to become the top actor in Tamil cinema. Initially, he worked in films attracted to the audience. Today he has been arrested in the case of drugs. Born in Hyderabad, Srikanth’s father was an employee in SBI Bank. He completed his schooling in Chennai. His elder brother died during college due to dengue. After finishing studies, he focused on modeling and then got a chance in films.
Srikanth first had to work in ‘Kadal Virus’ and Shyam’s ’12th V’ films, but due to circumstances he missed the opportunity. Later, he got a chance to work in Bharatiraja and Balachander’s films, but he also missed. Finally the success of the film ‘Roja Kodam’ gave him recognition.
Director Sasi’s 2002 film ‘Rosa Kodam’ recognized Srikanth. The audience notices him and his young and zealous performance caught everyone’s attention. After this, he worked in films like ‘April Maththil’, ‘Mansallam’, ‘Parthiban Kanavu’.
He made his debut in Telugu cinema with the film ‘Okriki Okru’. This film also appreciated his performance. After this, his films ‘Varnjalam’, ‘Bose’, ‘Kanna Kanden’, ‘Oru Nal Oru Kanavu’ (2005) and ‘Bambra Kannale’ (2005) received mixed reactions.
After this, his films could not achieve great success due to the mistake in the selection of the story. Under the direction of Shankar, Vijay’s film ‘Nanban’ was expected to return, but it did not happen.
Meanwhile, while busy with films, there was love between Srikanth and Vandana of Chennai. Both of them got married without telling the family members and remained like a husband and wife for three months. Vandana later complained to the police that Srikanth refused to accept him as his wife.
For almost a year, this case went on in court and a decision came in favor of Vandana. Later, both families compromised and got Srikanth and Vandana married in 2008. This couple now have two children.
Currently, Srikanth is arrested in a drug case and is in jail. He was consuming drugs for one and a half years. He admitted, ‘I got intoxicated, but did not sell anyone.’ This has become another problem for Srikanth, who is facing frequent failures in films.
