Donald Trump imposed 100 percent tariff on foreign films.
Mumbai. US President Donald Trump on Monday announced the imposition of 100 percent tariff on foreign films. He said that the film industry in America is ending very fast, which is a threat to national security. He accused other countries that they are removing filmmakers and studios from America by giving various incentives. He wrote on his social media platform Truth Social Social, “Industry in America is rapidly ending. Other countries are giving many incentives to overcome our filmmakers and studios.
He added, “This is also promotion and message. Therefore, I am instructing the Department of Commerce and United States Trade Representatives to start 100 percent tariffs on all films that are made abroad and are coming to our country. We want films to be made again in America.”
Talking to reporters at the White House on Sunday, Trump blamed California Gaviner Gavin Newsom for a decrease in filmmaking in Hollywood in the last few years. He said that other countries are stealing films and filmmaking abilities from America.
Donald Trump said, “If he is not ready to make films inside the United States, then we should put a tariff on the arrival of films.” According to reports, film production in California has decreased due to budget cuts and more attractive tax incentives outside. In addition, in recent years the American film industry suffered several economic shocks, including Hollywood laborers strike and Kovid epidemic.
In January, Trump appointed three film stars- John Wite, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stelon as special ambassadors to promote business opportunities in Hollywood. Trump said that his job is to bring back business in Hollywood, because in the last four years this industry has suffered a lot due to foreign films.
