Famous Abhinav Kashyap in the industry for an innocence speech talked about the pressure made on casting in the film ‘Besharam’ in a recent interview. He told that Ranbir had pressurized his girlfriend for this film and when Pallavi Sharda finally got the role, many rumors flew in the industry.

In an interview to ‘Bollywood Thikana’, Abhinav said that during ‘Dabangg’ he was pressurized to cast Katrina Kaif with Salman Khan, but he did not consider Katrina right for the role. Years later, when the casting of ‘Besharam’ started, Ranbir Kapoor asked Katrina to take it in the lead role. At that time there were rumors of Ranbir and Katrina dating.

‘I wanted a Punjabi girl from Delhi’

Abhinav said, “Ranbir told me that Katrina wants to do this film, think to cast her…” He said- ‘Katrina was not right for this role. I wanted a Punjabi girl from Delhi. Katrina’s Hindi accent was very strong at that time, which was difficult to hide. Most of his rolls had to show that he is NRI or foreigner ‘.

The director said that he had earlier thought of taking Sonakshi Sinha, because the pair of both were hit in ‘Dabangg’. But Ranbir was not ready for this. Abhinav said that I wanted to take Sonakshi for this role, but Ranbir clearly said- ‘Not Sonakshi, I am not comfortable.’ Now what was his problem, he can tell him.

Pallavi Sharda gets film

After this, the film’s team auditioned many actresses, including Taapsee Pannu, Swara Bhaskar, Tamannaah Bhatia and Parineeti Chopra. Eventually, this role was given to Newcomer Pallavi Sharda. Abhinav told, ‘Pallavi auditioned and everyone liked it. Ranbir, her parents… She was completely selected on merit. But there was a protest against this decision in the industry. Because Pallavi first played a small role in Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘My Name Is Khan’ and suddenly people raised questions when he got the lead of such a big film.

The director said, ‘The industry could not digest how a supporting actor got the lead of such a big film. Even rumors spread that I had an affair with Pallavi, which was completely a lie.

Clear conversation with Katrina

Abhinav also made it clear that he had no personal problem with Katrina. He told that once Katrina met him and asked, ‘Do you have any problem with me?’ To this I replied- ‘No, the day I will have a script with the NRI character, I will first approach you.’

The story of the film revolves around Babli (Ranbir Kapoor). Growing up in an orphanage in Delhi, Babli is a car mechanic by profession, who steals expensive cars under the guise of work and gives earnings to the orphanage. Meanwhile, Babli meets Tara Sharma (Pallavi Sharda) and he falls on him. But it is not easy for Babli to make Tara her own. In the film ‘Besharam’, Rishi Kapoor played a police inspector named Chulbul Chautala. At the same time, Neetu Kapoor appeared in the role of Head Constable Bulbul Chautala.

According to Box Office India, Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Besharam’ was made in a budget of Rs 83 crore. But the film was not able to charge its cost at the Indian box office. ‘Besharam’ did a business of Rs 77 crore across the country. At the same time, the Worldwide film did a business of Rs 95.11 crore.
