Madhubala’s real name was Mumtaz Jahan Begum Dehalvi, born on 14 February 1933 in Delhi. She was born on Valentine’s Day and was probably attached to love. But in real life, he never felt luck. His love remained incomplete everything.

At the age of 8, he started his career with the film ‘Basant’. Seeing her talent, Devika Rani named her ‘Madhubala’. At the age of 14, she appeared as a heroine with Raj Kapoor in the film ‘Neil Kamal’.

‘Mahal’ was released in 1949 and Madhubala became a superstar overnight. After that many hit films like ‘Howrah Bridge’, ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi’, ‘Barsat Ki Raat’ came. But the one who was the most memorable was ‘Mughal-e-Azam’. In this film, he played the role of Anarkali and created history.

There were sounds of heartbreak behind his glow on the screen. Madhubala fell in love with Dilip Kumar on the set of the film ‘Tarana’. At the age of 18, he proposed Dilip Saheb by giving roses and a letter. Dilip Kumar also adopted this relationship, but after nine years this relationship broke up. Not only that, Shammi Kapoor himself was also turned to them.
The reason was the intervention of Madhubala’s father and a court case. Dilip Kumar wrote in his book that Madhubala’s father was looking at this relationship like a business deal. After this Madhubala married Kishore Kumar. Kishore accepted Islam, but his family did not adopt Madhubala. His marriage also remained incomplete.
Madhubala had a serious heart disease. Once, during the shooting, he started bleeding from his mouth. After this, his health continued to deteriorate. During ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, he did many scenes in pain. He also tried to direct a film.

On 23 February 1969, at the age of just 36, Madhubala said goodbye to the world. On his last day, he was very lonely and suffering. However, people could not forget him even after his departure. In 2004, ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ was colored and once again everyone’s eyes set on Madhubala. In 2017, a statue of his Anarkali look was installed at Madame Tussauds Museum in Delhi.
