Naushad Saheb gave him the first break as a singer in the 1946 film “Dard”, the song “Afsana Likha Hoon Dil-e-Baker Ka” sung in his voice was a big hit at that time. But later Naushad turned towards acting and got a new comic character in the form of Tuntun to Bollywood.
